Gham-e jahan ka hisaab?

I've always loved Faiz Ahmed Faiz. I can't think back to a time when I didn't. There might be better poets, better poetry, but Faiz seems to translate everything I've ever felt into the most beautiful verses.

What is a blog or diary but a vain shot at immortality? To save in these pages a part of what we think and see and touch and feel? Pour a little bit of us in them, so that when we're gone, they still remain.

To remind others of who we were. Or to remind us of who we used to be.

What is a blog or diary but an attempt to make sense of the mixed up colors inside of us? To try and organize bits and pieces of life, so that, standing back, patterns emerge. And we can realize, and understand, and judge.

And perhaps, perhaps, at the end of the day, we'll be able to conclude what we want to conclude: We did not live in vain.

In the words of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, "Gham-e jahan ka hisaab"...

This is how I look at it. Accounting for my life.
